Moss growth on a tree trunk provides an interesting subject in Redwood National Park in N California. The park sees very high humidity which condenses in colder temperatures in the winter aiding in the growth of the moss.
The high elevations of Utah's Uintah mountains see snow and ice till late June or even early July. In this image, taken in the middle of June, the lake is starting to see its ice cover melt presenting an interesting foreground pattern.
Fall turns to winter on Utah's Wasatch mountains. Winter arrives early at higher elevations and these regions see snow even as fall is peaking at lower levels.
