Welcome to Govind Photography.
I am an engineer by profession and a freelance photographer, based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. I am primarily a nature and wildlife photographer, but I enjoy photographing all subjects - urban life, people, food, sports and performing arts.
I am deeply interested in understanding how each facet of nature - be it an element of wildlife, vegetation, climate or landscape, even micro-climatic regions and micro-landscapes - affects one another and us as human beings. Photography motivates me to observe these in close quarters and learn how we are part of this great web, and the need for conservation. As an engineer, I am drawn to shapes and patterns, both natural and man-made, which I enjoy exploring through photography.
I am a member of the Nature Photographers Network (NPN) - a group that has helped me immensely in my development as a photographer. In the past, I was a member of the Urban Ecology Center and their photo club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Outside photography, I volunteer with The Association for India's Development, mostly with their sustainable farming and education programs. I am interested in South Indian Classical (Carnatic) music and am an amateur percussionist. I am also interested in history, particularly the progression of dominant thought processes across the world.
